The short answer

Partial highlights focus on selected areas; full highlights distribute lightened sections more widely. Full does not mean every strand is colored, and partial does not guarantee a particular finished look. The right choice depends on where the client wants brightness and how the hair is worn.

Think about the hair from more than one angle

Someone who normally wears the hair down may care most about the face frame and visible top sections. Someone who regularly wears it up may also want to discuss the underside and perimeter. Describe both habits during consultation, then let the stylist explain the necessary placement.

The terms partial and full describe scope, not an exact number of foils that is universal across salons. Ask what the chosen appointment covers at the salon being booked. A previous highlight pattern may also affect what needs attention.

How Eleven Eleven’s packages differ

The salon lists both basic highlight-and-blow-dry appointments and combined appointments that add a root touch-up, haircut or both. Root coverage and lighter pieces solve different problems; discussing both goals up front helps avoid selecting an incomplete appointment.

What should the consultation establish?

Ask which areas will be worked on and whether the desired result can reasonably be reached in the booked time. Show the current color in ordinary light. If there is old dark color, a previous correction or uneven lightening, explain that before booking a routine refresh.

It is reasonable to request a price explanation and a maintenance plan. It is not useful to choose the cheaper category first and expect the same scope as the larger appointment. The service should follow the agreed result, not the other way around.

  • Which sections will be brightened?
  • Will the result look consistent with the hair tied back?
  • Is a root touch-up needed separately?
  • Is toner included or additional for this plan?
  • What is the expected follow-up?
